The Story

We are a family-owned winery specializing in artisan wines from our estate vineyards on the famed westside of Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast.
Here, we are blessed with a rare combination of limestone soils, sun-kissed hillsides and refreshing ocean breezes that cascade through the Templeton Gap, a notch in the coastal mountains. In our wines, you will taste the rare beauty and balance of this remarkable terroir.
Making wine is our craft, and sharing it is our passion, which is why we aim to offer an unparalleled tasting experience. Our historic tasting room is surrounded by extensive rose gardens and breathtaking vineyard views.
Veris Cellars was founded in 1990 as JanKris Winery and helped establish Paso Robles as one of California’s most dynamic wine regions. In early 2008, JanKris Winery was acquired by local entrepreneur and wine enthusiast Matthew Talbert, who immediately launched a new era under the new name of Veris Cellars.
Matthew initiated sweeping improvements in the winery’s visitor facilities, winemaking program and viticultural practices, with the goal of taking the Veris Cellars tradition to the next level. We invite you to experience our wines, gardens and hospitality in the heart of the Paso Robles wine country.
The Vines

Gevrey’s Vineyard 60 acres
Our crown vineyard is in the heart of the most desirous microclimate on the West side of the Paso Robles appellation - Paso Robles ~ Templeton Gap, California. The Linne Colado soil with its high percentage of rich calcareous lime deposits combined with a unique microclimate together prove to be the most desirous growing area for producing world class wines. Gevrey’s Vineyard is the home of some the oldest vines planted in the Paso Robles appellation. Its thirty eight year old original root stock vines have stood the test of time. Sustainable farming, along with organic practices maximizes each varietal’s essence revealing the expression of this unique terroir and historic site. Vines planted are Chardonnay, Viognier, Zinfandel, Merlot and Petite Syrah. Also thriving in the vineyard are traditional Portuguese varietals: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao, Sousao & Tinta Roriz used to produce Port. Gevrey’s Vineyard, which sits adjacent to our historic Victorian tasting room, is truly a sight to behold, helping us to earn the distinction of being the Central Coast’s most photographed wine property.
Bragevan Vineyard 10 acres
Bragevan Vineyard is home to varietals Tempranillo, Grenache-Noir, and Pinot Noir. Located in Templeton’s beautiful Hidden Valley Ranch, the grapes here have been strategically planted to best utilize the lay of land. Here, Pinot Noir enjoys the cool temperatures of the lower elevation, where it is carefully monitored to protect this varietal’s gentle growing requirements. The Tempranillo is situated on an upper hilltop to take advantage of the warmer climate while the Grenache-Noir sits pretty on the sloping hillside. The combination of Linne colado soil and its diverse microclimate makes this special vineyard very unique. The intention of these vines is that their fruit will be used for the elite production of our exclusive fledgling brand, Nova Vita.
Amy’s Vineyard 60 acres
Situated on the outlaying edge of the Templeton Gap, the rich, calcareous soil of Amy’s Vineyard align with an ideal microclimate to produce excellent growing condition. Varietals found here are Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, and Syrah. These vines are trained to a bi-lateral cordon allowing them to sprawl and flourish. Sustainable farming, along with organic practices, produces a yield of three and a half tons of fruit per acre from this sixty acre site that is used to produce our award winning Zinfandel, and our award winning proprietary blends: Crossfire, Riatta, and Picaro.
